Kassel Dummy Award
The Dummy Award is the international competition for the best unpublished photobook dummy of the year, as of this year run by PhotoBookMuseum in Cologne. Each year, the shortlisted unique dummies travel on a World Tour to a number of photographic organisations globally, always making a stop in Ireland hosted by PhotoIreland Festival. This year, we present the shortlisted publications during the Tsundoku Art Book Fair.
Since 2010, the Kassel Fotobook Festival has been inviting photographers worldwide to take part in its Kassel Dummy Award. Over this period of time, thousands of photobook dummies have been submitted from all around the world; hundreds of shortlisted books have been exhibited internationally at various photography events, festivals and exhibition spaces. The participating photographers have been able to expand their networks with galleries, publishers and festivals, finding the opportunity to present their books to the global audience.
The 2023 shortlist jury is Anastasiia Leonova, Ângela Ferreira, Anja Schürmann, Frederic Lezmi, Nicolas Polli, and Ufuk Şahin.
